Peddy crushed Doosan with a personal record of 12K…19 wins
Eric Peddy (NC Dinos) met the 19-win requirement with a dominating performance against the Doosan Bears. The 20-win mark is really within reach.
Peddy started the 2023 KBO League regular season opener against Doosan on Monday at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, and pitched six innings of one-hit ball with one walk and 12 strikeouts. His sinker reached a high of 154 mph on the day, lowering his season ERA to 2.13. Pedi protected his team’s 2-0 lead into the sixth inning and left the mound in the seventh with a scoreless quality start (6+ innings, 3 earned runs or less) and his 19th win of the season.메이저사이트
It was a dominant performance, literally. Doosan batters struggled to generate even an in-play at-bat against Pedi. The top of the order, which had been hitting well as of late, managed just two swinging strikes and a grounder to shortstop in the first inning against Pedi. The second inning wasn’t much different. Yang, who has been one of the best hitters this season, took Pedi to a seven-pitch contest, but ultimately struck out swinging, and the second inning also featured two swinging strikes and a fly ball.
The third inning was Pedi’s only crisis. With one out in the bottom of the inning and a 1-0 lead, Pedi gave up a single to Park Kye-beom. The next batter, Cho Soo-hyung, tried to bunt, but Pedi was late and the runner was safe. Two batters later, Kim Jae-ho drew a full-count walk to load the bases.
Pedi got out of the jam himself. He took advantage of two sweepers against Doosan’s No. 3 hitter, Yang Seok-hwan, and in a two-pitch, two-strike situation, induced a groundout with a sinker that went straight to the low, outside corner of the right field seats. Yang was frustrated that he couldn’t get out of the batter’s box, but Pedi’s pitches and delivery were perfect.
That was the end of the threat. In the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, Pedi retired every Doosan batter he faced. He struck out all three batters in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the strikeout streak continued into the sixth inning.
Just as impressive as his no-hitter was his total of 12 strikeouts. The 12 is a career-high for him this season. His previous high was 11 against the Changwon Kiwoom Heroes on May 5.
